GUNTUR: The Guntur district, which has only one power source from VTPS in Vijayawada, is overload and gets tripped, putting people through hardship. This situation will be overcome with the commissioning of the new 132/33 kv sub-station and a 31.5 million volt amperes Power Transformer at Tadikonda on May 20.Summer in Guntur district was likely to be without much of power failure if this second connection gets commissioned as proposed. Chairman and Managing Director A.P. Transco Ajay Kallam visited Guntur district on Friday to assess the power situation and have first hand information on the projects being undertaken. He visited the proposed site for a 400 kva sub-station at Kumaripudi, Korapadu near Sattenapalli and wanted the Revenue Divisional Officer to talk to the land owners for an amicable settlement of price. MoU submittedThe land owners also submitted a memorandum to the CMD and in reply the CMD promised no loss for them if an amicable out of court settlement was arrived at. If the site was ready the tenders would be floated by month-end, he said. Meanwhile, the Narsaraopet and Nallapadu sub-stations 220/132 kv and 132/33 kv respectively would get ready by August and September. Construction of 132/33 was also proposed at Sattenapalle, Karempudi and Tentachintala for which land was acquired and tendering process in motion.
