Seize godowns and distribute foodgrains in market: CPI(M)

Correspondent

CHIKMAGALUR: K.N. Ramachandran, secretary of the central committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) said here on Thursday that the policies of the Centre were responsible for the price rise.

Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Ramachandran criticised the Left parties for colluding with the Centre. He said godowns should be seized and foodgrains should be distributed in the open market.

Regretting that there was no opposition when anti-people policies were introduced by the Centre, he said his party had been participating in the struggle for land in 18 States in the country.

He appealed to the people to elect his party candidates in the district. He added that the introduction of Above Poverty Line and Below Poverty Line cards had resulted in shortage of foodgrains for the poor. He pointed out that tribals in the Malnad region lacked basic facilities.

He said no party had come forward to find a solution to the basic problems of the people.
