Thiruvananthapuram: Toonz Animation India Pvt. Ltd, one of the premier animation studios in Asia based in the Technopark campus here, has been short-listed for the Global Tech Showcase (GTS 2008, www.GlobalTechShowcase.com) being held in conjunction with the World Investment Conference in La Brule, France, June 4 6. Hosted by EuroStart Capital Partners LLC, a San Francisco-based venture fund, the GTS 2008 offers the opportunity for the most promising companies from around the world to launch and accelerate their business in Europe. GTS 2008 will take place in conjunction with the World Investment Conference that will feature hundreds of corporate and political leaders from technology firms like Sony, Nokia, BT, Total and Siemens, as well as government officials and ministers from around Europe. Toonz Animation India was selected after an extensive review of over 700 companies by the GTS 2008 selection committee, which includes senior executives from leading European companies such as Siemens, T-Mobile, British Telecom, SAP, ST Microelectronics, Burda, and Bouygues Telecom, among others. “We look forward to exploring opportunities that help leverage our expertise in entertainment and animation on a global scale. GTS, I firmly believe would serve as a launch pad for our expansion plans in Europe,” said P Jayakumar, CEO of Toonz Animation. Toonz, a major provider of animation to the United States and European producers, is a major studio in South Asia and part of the international business conglomerate, Comcraft Group, based in Geneva. Founded in 1999, Toonz’s client list includes the biggest names in media and entertainment such as Marvel, Hallmark, Paramount, Disney, BBC and Cartoon Network.
