Boy dies of burns

An 18-year-old boy, Gautham Deenadayalan of Periyapalayam, who was admitted to the Kilpauk Government Hospital on Friday afternoon succumbed to burn injuries later in the evening.

He allegedly set himself ablaze after learning that he had failed to clear the XII Standard examination, the results of which were declared on Friday morning. The police said the boy battled for life for three hours before doctors declared him dead at 5 p.m.
