Ghouse assumes office as Deputy Mayor

GUNTUR: The agreement for change of guard at Guntur Municipal Corporation got fully implemented today with Deputy Mayor Shaik Ghouse corporator from Division 8 assumed office on Friday and occupied his cabin.

The occasion was marked by a lot of celebration in the old city with a large contingent of Congress workers and followers of Guntur-I MLA Nabur Shaik Subhani also joining a motorcycle rally from the MLA’s office to the Corporation Administrative Building in the morning. Mayor Rayapati Mohan Sai Krishna, MLC Rayapati Srinivas and other Congress leaders greeted the new Deputy Mayor and wished him all the best.

Later, Mr. Ghouse thanked the Corporators and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for electing him as Deputy Mayor and promised to fulfil his duty towards the people of the city.

He promised to work in tandem with the Mayor and ensure there was proper implementation of all the Government schemes.

“The municipal services would be brought at the doorstep of the people with quality” he said .
