Uncalled for: R.K. Dhawan

NEW DELHI: Congress Working Committee member and general secretary in charge of Himachal Pradesh R.K. Dhawan on Friday refuted Congress leader Arjun Singh’s comment made during the release of his book here that he had opposed the Emergency. Mr Singh made the comment during the release of his book.

A close aide of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Mr. Dhawan said: “Fortunately or unfortunately I was a witness to the events relating to the imposition of Emergency till its lifting. I never came across any moment or communication from Mr. Arjun Singh opposing the Emergency. In any case to rake up the issue of the Emergency at this point in time is uncalled for.”
