Kakinada: District Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi has ordered the dismissal of Arogya Mitra workers of Thondangi, Sankhavaram, Kirlampudi and Thatipaka on charge of dereliction of duties. They were supposed to visit all the houses in their purview, identify those in need of health care services under Arogyasri scheme and send them to referral hospitals but did not endorse at least one person in the last 15 days. People, who require treatment for various ailments, could be sent to hospitals in 108 ambulances or in other means in consultation with the primary health centre doctors or the ITDA officials as the case may be. But, in the present, the Arogya Mitra workers allegedly neglected their duties. Review meetAnnouncing their removal at a review meeting on Arogyasri, Mr. Dwivedi said that there was some improvement in the functioning of Arogya Mitra workers at most places in the district and steps were taken to make others fall in line. Project officials were instructed to keep him (Collector) apprised of the manner of implementation of the scheme, which would enable him to take necessary action for better delivery of health care services and cracking the whip on negligent staff and workers. Arogya Mitra workers’ role in Arogyasri scheme is crucial, as such they would be naturally expected to discharge their duties properly, the Collector added.
