Bidar
BIDAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee from Bidar Assembly Constituency Raghunath Rao Malkapure has appealed to voters to not cast their votes for Congress nominee and the former Minister Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Malkapure charged that Mr. Nagamarapalli had not done anything substantial for the development of Aurad Assembly Constituency, which he had represented four times. He said that according to the Nanjundappa committee report, Aurad taluk was the “most backward” in the State. “If the Congress wins, Mr. Nagamarapalli will make Bidar city backward like Aurad,” he said. Mr. Malkapure alleged that Mr. Nagamarapalli had “blackmailed” Congress leaders to get the party ticket to contest for the Bidar seat after Aurad was made a reserved seat after the delimitation exercise. Mr. Nagamarapalli tendered his resignation to the party and made his followers in Aurad resign in order to put pressure on the party leaders, he added. Mr. Nagamarapalli had violated the election code of conduct by assuring financial aid to a particular community, he alleged.
