Congress is said to have used the flag while campaigning ‘BSP has affected BJP’s poll prospects in Uttar Pradesh’ BELLARY: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice-president Venakaiah Naidu has taken strong objection to the reported use of the National Flag by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee on the cover of a compact diskette titled “Congress campaign films.” The diskette was released in Bangalore recently. “Instead of the party flag, the Congress used the National Flag on the cover of the diskette, released by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma. Now that this has come to our notice, we will write to the Election Commission seeking appropriate action,” he said. Mr. Naidu was here to address a series of public meetings as part of the election campaign in Bellary district. Lack of visionHe told presspersons here on Saturday, that the price rise was the main issue in this election and the party would highlight the inability of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government to contain it. Asked whether the BJP would support the Women’s Reservation Bill tabled in Parliament, Mr. Naidu, while replying in the affirmative, criticised the UPA Government for taking a decision only after the Lok Sabha was adjourned. “This is only a trick being played on the people,” he charged. To another question, he said the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) was a new phenomenon and did affect the prospects of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh to some extent. However, the worst hit would be the Congress, as seen in the elections held in a few States recently. Addressing an election meeting at the municipal school grounds here on Saturday, the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said the BJP would construct a bypass for Bellary city and offer a minority community leader a Cabinet berth if it came to power.
