Crucial day: Election staff marking the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s hand with indelible ink after he cast his vote at the Paduvalahippe village polling station in Holenarsipur taluk in Hassan district on Saturday. HASSAN: The former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda has said that his party has been built solely by the people of the State. He told presspersons at Paduvalahippe village, 10 km from Holenarsipur in the district, after exercising his franchise on Saturday, that party workers formed the very firmament of the Janata Dal (Secular). Mr. Gowda said his party had always belonged to workers and not leaders. “Exemplary development projects were taken up during H.D. Kumaraswamy’s tenure as Chief Minister,” he claimed. He expressed confidence that his party would emerge victorious in the elections. Mr. Gowda said the Congress was still practising dynastic politics, and added that the Janata Dal (S) had worked for the progress and welfare of the people. He clarified that his party would not enter into any post-poll alliance. “We will form the Government on our own, or else sit in the Opposition,” he said.
