Judge inspects Moga jail

MOGA: Justice Ranjit Singh of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, who is the inspection judge of the Faridkot Sessions Division, visited Moga Jail over the weekend and pointed to overcrowding of the prison with 150 inmates and undertrials against the actual capacity of only 46. He also observed inhuman and unhygienic living conditions of the inmates.

He later said he would write to the State Government for construction of a new district jail in which all modern facilities would be made available. Though none of the jail inmates made any complaint, the Judge took note of the situation and directed the district administration to provide sufficient medical health care. - PTI
