Focus on joint efforts to achieve target

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: Development experts attending a presentation on “Dungarpur Initivate” supported by the United Nations Development Programme in the tribal-dominated Dungarpur district of Rajasthan have called for joint efforts by the government, voluntary and corporate bodies and the society at large for achieving the targets of growth.

The initiative entails a new public-private community partnership (PPCP) programme that will exclusively meet the needs of tribal population and take up region-specific work for benefiting the rural communities. The progress of the programme was reviewed at a function in the Zila Parishad auditorium in Dungarpur over the weekend.

State Rural Development Secretary Rajendra Bhanawat said the private organisations operating in the region should “distribute their prosperity” among the local communities as their contribution for development.

“The initiatives for development can be termed successful only if the deprived sections of society benefit from them,” he added.

UNICEF deputy country head Peter Bult said the Dungarpur Initiative would involve joint planning of strategies, combined efforts, cooperative work and sharing of results.
