Original Vel almanac

Chennai: Shortly after the Mumbai season concluded, the latest edition of the Original Vel record book in two volumes has been released. It records the results of the 1,969 races held in the country between August 14, 2007 and April 27, 2008. While the winter seasons of Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mysore, Kolkata and Mumbai are covered in detail, Madras and Delhi have only short results. The jockeys and trainers statistics and best timings at different centres find a place along with the centre-wise index. 293 pages of the almanac are devoted to a general index, which gives details of the pedigree, age, etc. Priced Rs 200 (postage extra), this 1750 pages guide will be a valuable buy for racegoers.
