BHUBANESWAR: Following a report in this newspaper on Thursday regarding non-appointment of the president and the vice- president for the Orissa Sahitya Akademi (OSA), the apex and autonomous literary body of the state, the government announced appointment of Chandrasekhar Dasbarma as its vice-president for two years on the same day. Mr. Dasbarma was earlier the secretary of the Akademi. He succeeded Mr. Hussian Rabi Gandhi whose tenure had expired on February 22. Ironically enough, officials are tight-lipped over the appointment of the president for this prestigious institution that is decided by the Chief Minister. The post has been lying vacant since prominent poet passed away on January 30.
