Server connectivity disrupted

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The disruption in the Immigration Department’s server at the arrival hall of the Anna international terminal at the Chennai airport delayed the checking of passengers early on Saturday.

Immigration authorities said their counters on the first floor were being shifted for repairs taken up by the Airports Authority of India.

While demolishing some of the structures, the labourers shifted the server and UPS connection of the Immigration Department.

When they installed the server and the UPS system in a new place, the connectivity was disrupted. Hence, the Immigration authorities were unable to check the passports in the arrival area.

Later, they took all the passports to the departure area, checked them and affixed the stamp before returning them.

The connectivity was re-established around 9 a.m. after which normality was restored in the arrival area, the authorities said.
