Kochi: The Kochi Refineries Evictees’ Association, Ambalamugal, has demanded permanent employment to members of the families whose land has been acquired for the company. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Association convener A.N. Muraleedharan said that at a meeting convened by former District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish on the directive of Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, it was agreed that permanent job would be given to one member each of the evicted families. But the decision is yet to be implemented, despite many opportunities in the contract job sector, he alleged. Second phaseIt was under these circumstances that the evictees recently began the second phase of their agitations in front of the company. The Association would hold a get together of the families of evictees on Sunday. It would be addressed by social activists.
