Job-seekers allege racket

CHENNAI: The police on Saturday received several complaints from job-seekers in different parts of the State that a group of 15 persons had collected several lakhs of rupees with the promise of getting them jobs in leading IT firms.
Police said that they received 1,200 complaints. Shivakumar from Andhra Pradesh and Venkatesan from Ambattur have been named as the main accused.
According to complainants, the 15 persons were part of a company, which had its office in Anna Nagar and five other locations in the city. The complainants said that they paid between Rs.35,000 and Rs.1 lakh for getting jobs. They suspected foul play when some of the company’s executives could not be traced. Commissioner of Police G. Nanchil Kumaran said that a hunt had been launched .
