International flights delayed

A correspondent

Staff shortage affects operations again

Nedumbassery: Several international flights from Cochin International Airport were delayed for the second day on Saturday due to the shortage of staff in the immigration department.

The delayed flights were Emirates flight (EK 533) to Dubai, Ettihad flight (EY 281) to Abu Dhabi, Gulf Air flight (GF 271) to Bahrain, Oman Air flight (WY 828) to Muscat and Kuwait-bound Kuwait Airways flight (KU 352).

Three flights were delayed on Friday as the Immigration Department, short of personnel, failed to handle the large number of passengers during the peak hours.

The hectic schedule of international flights along with an increase in passengers to the Middle East countries made it difficult for the immigration officials to handle the rush.

The airline companies were also concerned about the repeated delays.
