Ponmudy firm on setting up medical college at Villupuram

VILLUPURAM: Efforts will be made to open a medical college in Villupuram, if not in the current academic year at least in the next academic year, said K. Ponmudy, Higher Education Minister.

The Minister was participating in a function organised at Vikkiravandi on Friday.

Mr. Ponmudy said there were hurdles to be cleared before starting the medical college.

(The proposal to set up a college at Mundiampakkam has run into a legal tangle because the site identified happens to be a tank).

Of the proposed five engineering colleges in the State, two would come up at Villupuram and Tindivanam, Mr. Ponmudy said.
