Rama Subbiah’s centenary celebrated

Special Correspondent

He was like a root to the Dravidian movement: Karunanidhi

CHENNAI: The centenary of Dravidian movement leader Rama Subbiah was celebrated here on Saturday.

Releasing a souvenir brought out on the occasion, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said Rama Subbiah was like a root to the Dravidian movement. Due to the hard and committed work of cadres such as Subbiah, the organisation had grown to this level. These dedicated workers never aspired for power or position as they had considered the movement work as their sacred duty.

Finance Minister K.Anbazhagan, presiding, said Subbiah was a true follower of EVR and Annadurai, whose family members sacrificed their lives for the Dravidian movement. His life was a lesson to the present day youth.

Dravidar Kazhagam president K.Veeramani received the souvenir from the Chief Minister. Former Minister RM.Veerappan, AVM.Saravanan of AVM Studio, Avvai Natarajan, former Vice Chancellor of Tamil University and Rama Narayanan, president, Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram recalled their association with Subbiah.
