Thiruvananthapuram: Ten persons were killed in five separate accidents in various parts of the State on Sunday. In Alappuzha, four members of a family, including a five-month-old infant, were killed when a tipper lorry rammed an autorickshaw they were travelling in at Karipuzha, near Haripad. The police identified the victims as Suran, 50, his wife Shobha, 42, Suran’s brother Bhaskaran’s daughter-in-law Geena, 22, and Geena’s son, Amit . According to the police, the accident occurred at 2.15 p.m. . Eyewitnesses said the tipper lorry was speeding and rammed the autorickshaw, killing Suran, Geena and Amit on the spot. Shobha died at a private hospital a few hours later. The driver and cleaner of the lorry fled the spot. In Palakkad, two persons were killed near Thottupalam at Thannerpandal, near Kinasseri, when a moped they were riding collided with a private transport bus. The police identified the victims as Sivadas, 60, and Kittuchamni, 42. In Thiruvananthapuram, a 28-year-old man and a college girl were killed in a collision involving a motorbike and a scooter at Venpalavattam in the evening. The police identified the youth as Abhiram of Nedumangad. He was riding the motorbike. The girl was identified as Nitya of Palkulangara and a student of All Saints College. Fini, another student of the college, was injured in the accident. In Thrissur, BMS district joint secretary K.S. Sunil, 43, died after a car in which he was travelling collided with another at Alur on the Chalakudy-Irinjalakuda route. Eleven persons travelling in the other car were injured. An autorickshaw driver, Shiju, 23, was killed when the vehicle collided with a car at Kodungalloor. Four persons who were travelling in the autorickshaw were injured.
