KANNUR: A three-day Sunni Yuvajana Sangham (SYS) district conference concluded here on Sunday with a rally and a public function at the Town Square. The conference called upon the local mahal committees to be vigilant against religious reformist movements and extremist organisations getting inspiration from them. A resolution adopted at the conference said that entry of reformist and extremist elements into the mahal committees and their activities would have far-reaching consequences. It called for intense awareness campaigns against such movements. The conference was held in different sessions. Sunni religious leaders and political leaders representing the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian Union Muslim League and the Congress participated in the different sessions held on Saturday.
