Kalpetta: ‘Meet in Mist,’ the 34th State annual conference of the Qualified Private Medical Practitioners’ and Hospital Association that concluded here on Sunday, has demanded through a resolution that the government enact legislation to arrest those responsible for attacks on doctors and paramedical staff. It also demanded that direct blood transfusion be allowed in emergency cases and civic authorities collect solid hospital waste after segregation of biomedical waste. The annual conference was inaugurated by M.V. Shreyamskumar, MLA. Joseph Stephan Chazhikkadan, State president the association, presided. M. Bhaskaran, former president of the State unit of the Indian Medical Association; Cyriac, chairperson of the Confederation of Private Healthcare Associations; P.K. Muhammed Rasheed, State president of the Kerala State Private Hospitals Association; and E.P. Mohanan, president of Wayanad unit of the Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association, spoke. Anil Thomas; K.V. Sahasranam; and M. Riju handled classes on ‘Function and organ preserving in surgical oncology,’ ‘Hypertension - shifting emphasis in management’ and ‘Nuclear medicine in clinical practice,’ respectively.
