KOCHI: The Lottery Department in the district has started taking steps towards including agents into welfare fund at a premium of Rs. 15 a month. M.G. Ajith Kumar, district lottery officer, said reforms like the formation of welfare fund board for the lottery agents was under the consideration of the government. The department has registered revenue of Rs. 29.65 crore from the district in 2007-08. This is an increase from Rs. 13.80 crore over last year. The department collected Rs. 1.42 crore through the sale of Santhwanam lottery towards the Chief Minister’s calamity relief fund. About 2.80 lakh was earned through the sale of 2,79,990 super bumper lottery, jointly launched by the Sports Council and the Lottery Department.
