Three killed in two accidents

SRIVILLIPUTTUR: Two persons were killed and a woman Sub-Inspector of Police, R. Thendral, and police constable, Babu, were seriously injured when their car collided with a Government-run bus near here on Sunday.

The police said that Thendral’s father, Rajendran (65) and the car driver, Gopi (37) were killed. The Sub-Inspector, attached to the Srivilliputtur Taluk police station, who was seriously injured, and the constable have been admitted to private hospitals in Madurai.

Thendral along with her father had gone to Srivilliputtur for a land deal. The constable had joined them on the way.

One more killed

A van driver, Saravanakumar (30), who was grievously injured in a separate accident on Saturday night near here died at the Srivilliputtur Government Hospital on Sunday. The van rammed into a State-run bus near Idayankulam junction at around 11 p.m.
