TUMKUR: Gubbi taluk registered the highest voting percentage of 80.19 in Tumkur district in the elections on Saturday. It was followed by Tumkur Rural Constituency and Tiptur taluk each with 77.84 per cent ageof voting; Tutuvekre with 77.84 per cent; C.N. Halli with 77.75; Kunigal with 77.53; Sira with 7.32; Pavagada with 73.16; Koratagere with 77.14; and Madhugiri with 74.90 per cent. Tumkur City Constituency registered the lowest voting percentage of 52.54 per cent. The average percentage of voting in the district was 74.45. At least 1.22 lakh people in 10 taluks of the district complained that their names were missing from the electoral rolls. Many of them are planning to seek a stay on the announcement of the poll results in the 11 Assembly constituencies in the district. About 700 Dalits residing in Ambedkar Nagar in Tumkur city complained that their names were missing from the list. Kolache Nivasigala Sangha president Narasimha Murthy said all them had cast their vote in the 2007 elections to the Tumkur City Municipal Council. People from Poor House Colony, Hegde Colony, Jayapura, Fakirana Palya, Bade Sahebara Palya, G.C.R Colony, B.G. Palya in Tumkur City Constituency complained that their names were missing from the rolls. The residents of Poor House Colony had earlier complained that names of 11,000 persons were not included in the rolls although they had applied. In Siddaganga extension, names of over 1,500 people were missing. Twenty-five persons in Upparahalli, 300 in Shettikere, 100 each in Kuppur and seven surrounding villages did not find their names in the rolls in the C.N. Halli segment. Fifty people in Nagalapura could not cast their vote as their names were missing from the rolls. In Devanayakanahalli, 175 people were disappointed. Both the villages come under the Turuvekere Assembly Constituency. In Kunigal segment, 300 people complained that their names were not in the rolls.
