London: Pakistan is poised to be readmitted into the Commonwealth-fold here on Monday, sources said on Sunday. The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group, which deals with violations of the organisation’s rules on democracy, will meet here on Monday to review the suspension. The new Commonwealth Secretary-General India’s Kamalesh Sharma is keen to see Pakistan back into the group considering that the Emergency, imposed on November 16 last year, has been lifted and a coalition government is in office in Islamabad. British Foreign Secretary David Miliband has also taken an initiative to see restoration of Pakistan’s membership in the organisation. Pakistan was suspended from the 53-member group following imposition of emergency by President Pervez Musharraf. — PTI
