BERHAMPUR: Three veteran mothers of the city, who have seen at least four generations, were honoured at a function organised to mark the International Mother’s Day on Sunday. The function was organised by the JCI Ladies Club of the city. Its president S.M. Anuradha said they had planned to celebrate the occasion differently. “We decided to honour the mothers in Indian tradition like washing the feet, putting ‘kumkum chandan’ on the forehead and arati,” she said. The mothers who were honoured were K. Mahalaxmi, P. Urmila Devi and J. Yashoda. Among them, Ms. Mahalaxmi, 91, was the senior most. She attended her great grand daughter’s marriage a few months ago and the great grandmother is keen on seeing the next generation.
