Varanasi: An eight-year-old boy died after falling from the escalator of a mall here, police said on Sunday. Annu had gone along with his uncle to a mall in the cantonment area here on Saturday when the accident occurred. The boy lost his footing at the second floor while stepping off the escalator which had no railings and fell down to the ground floor, dying on the spot. Annu was the only son of Nandlal who worked as a driver with a travel agency. The cantonment police have registered a case against the management of the mall and started investigations.
