Candidates confuse voters with pro Telangana stand

Staff Reporter

Fariduddin says only Congress can achieve Telangana

TD candidate says Naidu sympathetic about the issue

SANGAREDDY: With the main contenders irrespective of their political affiliations announcing their inclination for a separate State, the voters in the three Assembly segments going for byelections in the Medak district are in utter confusion.

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti, the Telugu Desam and the Congress candidates in all the segments including the party segment in-charges are assuring the voters that if voted they would either help realising their dream of a separate State or at least stay neutral by not opposing a bill in the State Assembly or in the Parliament.

The Ramayampet in-charge Minister Mohammad Fariduddin is categorical in saying that only Congress could get Telangana and a sub regional party like TRS would not be able to do it even after winning all the seats in Telangana.

The Telugu Desam candidate Mainampalli Hanmanth during his door-to-door campaign was found assuring the voters on the Telangana issue that the party chief is sympathetic towards Telangana. Candidates of all the three political parties are making a point to say Jai to Telangana during some point of their campaign. Satyam a voter in Ramayampet town told The Hindu that the voters find it difficult to differentiate the usually hardliner TRS from the TDP.

Leaders for campaign

The campaign is also expected to become shrill with the Chief Minister, Opposition leader and the TRS president planning to visit the district from 14th of this month till 16 and again from 20th of this month. While K.Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to kick-start campaign from Siddipet on 14 and visit Ramayampet on 20. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is embarking on a road show in Ramayampet segment on 15. He expected to cover 13 villages in the Chegunta, Yeldurty and Medak mandals and Dommata and Siddipet after 20.
