Another honour: The former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore D. Jaware Gowda presenting Aa.Na.Kru. Nirman Award to lexicographer G. Venkatasubaiah in Bangalore on Sunday. Bangalore: The Government should conduct a linguistic survey in association with the Kannada Sahitya Parishat for exploring the range and depth of Kannada, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore and writer D. Javare Gowda has said. Prof. Gowda was speaking after presenting the Aa. Na. Kru. Nirman Centre award to lexicographer G. Venkatasubbaiah here on Sunday. The award is named after the Kannada novelist the late A. N. Krishna Rao popularly known as Aa. Na. Kru. He said that Kannadigas should be blamed for Kannada not earning the deserved status in the State and elsewhere. This had been reflected in Kannada struggling to get the classical language status on a par with Tamil, he said.
