Navaratna status demanded for VSP

Visakha Steel Employees Congress has demanded Minister of Heavy Industries Santhosh Mohan Dev fulfil its long-pending demands, including Navratna status to RINL-VSP and sanction of four per cent increment on par with employees of SAIL. In a press release, the union said in 1982, the then management of VSP had promised its employees to extend all benefits and perks being provided to SAIL employees from time to time. Since the SAIL had already paid the increments as a percentage of basic, the same should be implemented at VSP too, it said. The union also insisted that as VSP had been making net profits for the last five years, Navratna status should be conferred on it.
