NEW DELHI: The weekend brought for Delhiites the much needed relief in the form of light rain that lashed the Capital on Sunday. A total of 3.4 mm of rainfall was recorded by the Indian Meteorological Department. The rains succeeded in pushing the mercury down further to settle at maximum of 38.4 degrees Celsius which was two degrees below normal. The minimum temperature too fell by five degrees to settle at 21.4 degrees Celsius. Director of Weather Forecasting, IMD, B. P. Yadav said: “This rainfall is in keeping with the weather conditions prevailing in the Capital since last week. The rain could be attributed to a combination of factors such as passing western disturbance or local cyclonic circulation or high temperatures.” According to the weatherman, this spell of good weather is expected to last for another two to three days and will be followed by a rise in temperature. A partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thundershowers accompanied by squall has been forecast for Monday and the maximum temperature is expected to be around 38 degrees Celsius.
