Devotees at Simhachalam temple on Chandanotsavam day were severely inconvenienced as they had to wait for long hours in serpentine queues while the so-called VIPs and their teams had easy access to the Lord through the Rajagopuram way. Even last year, when a similar situation arose the authorities promised that all measures would be taken for the convenience of ordinary devotees, but they have failed miserably yet again. It is learnt that hundreds of crores of rupees are sanctioned for taking up developmental works at Simhachalam temple. These funds should be spent through proper planning and well in advance to create facilities for big occasions like Chandanotsavam. We hope at least by next year, the pilgrims would have better facilities. T.V. Nageswara Rao Visakhapatnam ‘Danger’ treesThe giant trees at plot no. 249 in sector 5 of MVP Colony behind Sivajipalem Park are bent low on the one side, posing danger as they are likely to fall any time. This can spell disaster as several school autos, buses and two-wheelers ply on this road which connects to Ushodaya Junction, Saibaba School, Peda Waltair, Rythu Bazaar and other areas. Besides, huge lorries carrying bricks, sand and other material like steel rods move through this road. The trees stand precariously on one or two roots as other roots were cut for laying underground drainage and tap connections. I appeal to the authorities to act immediately to prevent any untoward incident. V. Someswara Rao Visakhapatnam Ensure quality of workAny measure under JNNURM is a definite move towards improvement of the quality of life of an urban citizen. But such measures should ensure quality of work right from design stage to regular maintenance. Take for example the cross road to the south of KDPM High School in East Point Colony. The agility while taking up the work of digging trenches and laying of pipes is totally absent in the engineer/contractor in restoring it to usable condition. It is, therefore, necessary that final payment of the bill should be linked to the 100 per cent completion of the work including restoration of the road. U. Muralikrishna Visakhapatnam Need for another ATMThe SBI ATM in 104 Area goes out of order frequently due to excess load. There is no other ATM nearby and customers have to go up to Urvasi Theatre or NAD Kotha Road for the purpose. I request the SBI authorities to set up one more ATM in 104 area or replace the old ATM with a new one. Paidi Simhachalam Visakhapatnam
