Two killed in accidents

TAMBARAM: Two persons were killed in two accidents that took place within a span of 45 minutes in St. Thomas Mount on Saturday night.
In the first accident around 9.45 p.m., K. Elumalai, a carpenter, died on the spot when he came under the wheels of a speeding bus on Mount Poonamallee Road. A resident of Mylapore, Elumalai was riding pillion on a moped, driven by a friend. They were returning home after work.
The police said at St. Thomas Mount, the rider reportedly lost control of the moped and both of them were thrown off the vehicle. No one had noted down the registration number of the bus.
At 10.30 p.m., 32-year-old A. Bhaskar, riding a two-wheeler, skidded off the road and fell while trying to negotiate a curve in a lane branching off Mount Poonamallee Road. He dashed against a stone and sustained serious head injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital where he died three hours later, police said. The Tambaram Traffic Police (Investigation) are investigating.
