Himachal is facing a shortage of medicos in remote areas Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Government is considering a proposal to pay double salary to doctors opting to serve in far-flung areas which face a shortage of medicos. Doctors who opt to serve in far-flung and difficult areas would be given double the salary their colleagues get in urban areas and towns, a spokesman of the Health department said. He said such areas would be categorised on the basis of facilities available. The spokesman said that there are about 350 posts of doctors lying vacant in the State. He said the Prem Kumar Dhumal Ministry has accorded top priority to improving health facilities in the State, adding the government intended to fill 250 posts in the current financial year. -- PTI
