Exploring options: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy presenting a memento to Austrian Ambassador Ferdinand Maultaschl in Puducherry on Monday. PUDUCHERRY: Ambassador of Austria to India Ferdinand Maultaschl on Monday said his country would strive for better economic relations with the southern States. Shortly after calling on Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Dr. Maultaschl said after he assumed office in December last, the Austrian Minister for Economy and Labour had opened the office of the Commercial Consular in New Delhi during his visit to India. Another office was opened in Chennai, he said, adding that so far, 19 or 20 proposals for ventures by Austrian companies had come up. “I am confident that we can do more,” he said. He had called on Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala and met Chief Secretary L.K. Tripathy during his visit to Chennai.
