Belgaum: At a time when social activists and intellectuals in various fields are criticising “election manifestos” of political parties for trying to lure the gullible electorate by promising television sets and promising other benefits “if elected to power”, the Rajya Kabbu Belegarara Sangha (RKBS) seems to have gone a step further. The sangha has demanded “free bicycle” and “free radio” to all the below poverty line (BPL) families. This is one of the 22 demands it made public at a press conference here on Sunday. Sangha president Kurbur Shantkumar, State general secretary of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha Kalyanrao Muchalambi and farmers’ leader from Gulbarga Baswaraj Ingin were present. The sangha demanded scientific pricing mechanism for all agricultural and horticultural produce.
