70 families in Maddelacheruvu thanda to lose land: Paritala Sunita

ANANTAPUR: TDP legislator from Penukonda Paritala Sunita represented to district Collector N. Sridhar, the concerns of people in a few villages of Kanaganapalli and Kambadur mandals in the district, where a firing range is being proposed in about 15,000 acres and requested justice to the families likely to be displaced.

Accompanied by party leaders B. K. Parthasarathi, K. Ramamohan Chowdary, L. Narayana Chowdary and others the legislator explained to the Collector that, in the villages proposed for the firing range, several farmers were cultivating lands for decades as the owners were settled elsewhere.

She urged the district Collector to intervene in the matter and help them get compensation, as it was they who would be rendered homeless and landless in the proposed project.

Total rehabilitation

She also demanded a hike in the compensation proposed from Rs. 1 lakh per acre to Rs. 3 lakh per acre.

Citing an example, she stated that all the 70 families in Maddelacheruvu thanda in Kanganapalli mandal were going to lose their land. She asked the administration for total rehabilitation.

‘No communication’

The Collector assured justice and said the district administration had not received any written communication on the setting up of the firing range so far from the Central government.

So far, only oral orders to identify suitable land were received.

The firing range is being proposed in the lands pertaining to Maddelacheruvu, Maddelacheruvu thanda and K.N. Palyam villages in Kanaganapalli mandal and Ralla Anantapuram, Karthanaparthi, Thippepalli, D. Chennampalli, Nuthimadugu and Nuthimadugu thanda in Kambadur mandal.
