Soniya FC wins maiden title

Mysore: Soniya FC won its maiden MDFA ‘A’ division league title when it registered an exciting 2-1 win over Muslims FC in their final league tie at the Doddakere Maidan grounds here on Monday.

Sunil put Soniya FC ahead in the 20th minute, while Lohith Kumar increased the lead in the 40th minute. Mahesh reduced the margin in the 65th minute.

Soniya FC secured 27 points from its ten games (9 wins and one loss) to clinch the title. Ganesha FC with 23 points finished runner-up.

Defending champion, Govt. Text Book Press FC, finished third with 16 points, while Police FC with 15 points was placed fourth.

Earlier on Sunday, Pope FC held Ganesha FC to a 1-1 draw. S. Ali scored for Ganesha FC, while Infant Charles scored for Pope FC.
