Indian Army downs ICF

Coimbatore: ICF, for once, failed to click as a unit. And, the Indian Army men from New Delhi cashed in on the opportunity to score a 64-54 win in the 50th all-India basketball tournament for the Nachimuthu Gounder Cup at the VOC Park Corporation Sports Complex courts here on Monday.

Jayaram Jat (25) played the lead role for Indian Army, while Vinod (22) contributed for the loser.

In the seventh all India tournament for the CRI Pumps Trophy for women, Western Railway (Mumbai) scored a thumping 82-41 win over South Central Railway (Secunderabad).

The results:

Men (league): Indian Army (New Delhi) 64 (Jayaram Jat 25) bt ICF (Chn) 54 (Vinod 22). Earlier results: C&CE (Kochi) 69 (V. Vivek 16) bt SCR (Sec) 42 (O. Tirupathi 12, Nihal Yadav 12), Indian Army 52 (Jayaram Jat 14, Sirajudeen 12) bt BSNL 30 (Ulas Jose 12), IOB (Chn) 76 (K. Ravikumar 16, R. Chandrasekhar 16) bt CRPF 58 (Ashfaq Khan 18).
