ALAPPUZHA: A sub-inspector of police at Mavelikara, Sunil Raj, 33, was arrested by sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing at his rented residence in Puthiyakavu at Mavelikara on Monday while he was allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs. 5,000. According to police officials, a gravel contractor, Anil, had complained to the Vigilance that Sunil Raj had taken bribes several times from him for giving permission to transport gravel. However, the permission was not given and the SI is said to have demanded money again.
