Yamunanagar (Haryana): A victim of alleged gang rape stripped and tore her clothes at a police station here on Sunday in protest against “inaction” in booking the accused. But she was arrested for obscenity and attempted suicide. The woman, a nurse in a private hospital, staged a dharna along with her brother and sister for over two hours at the station demanding that the three men who raped her be arrested. She was also involved in an altercation with police personnel. A police spokesman said on Monday that a local court remanded her to judicial custody till May 26. The police also arrested Balwinder alias Goldy and his wife Sonia in connection with the alleged rape. Sonia, it is alleged, took the nurse to her house on the pretext that a woman relative was to be examined but the three men raped her. The nurse alleged that the accused were influential and were threatening her and her family. Her brother Abhishek claimed that he saw the accused slapping her in front of the police. “They are harassing us. No action is being taken,” he said. The police earlier claimed that the woman was refusing to name the three persons or give a statement. — PTI
