MANDI ADAMPUR (HISAR): It is woman power to the fore in this prestigious constituency where former Chief Minister and Haryana Janhit Congress candidate Bhajan Lal, who has never lost an election from here during his 40-year political career, is facing a multi-cornered contest in the by-election. Mr. Bhajan Lal’s wife Jasma Devi, who once served as an MLA from Adampur in 1987 when her husband was a Union Minister, along with other women of her family, has come out into the open in the gruelling May heat to campaign for the family patriarch, a thing unheard of in the past elections. Addressing a large number of women at the Shankar Cotton Mill here, Ms. Jasma Devi asserted that the electorate, particularly women, were an integral part of the Bhajan Lal family. She said the by-election result would prove that her husband won from the seat on his own steam and not because of the Congress. To add to her appeal, daughter Roshni Bishnoi and daughter-in-law Renuka Bishnoi (wife of Haryana Janhit Congress chief Kuldeep Bishnoi) were also present.
