Acquisition of lands termed illegal

VIZIANAGARAM: Bauxite Thavvakala Vyathirekha Porata Samiti (BTVPS), All-India Rythu Coolie Sangam and IFTU on Monday demanded legal action against Jindal for constructing compound wall along the “illegally acquired lands” without valid permission from panchayats.

At a press conference here, IFTU State committee member M. Venkateswarulu said that acquisition of lands was not done in accordance of the legislation.

He said that the district administration had pasted the notice inviting objections from farmers after the expiry date at Kiltampalem panchayat office on January 18 last year and had taken for granted that there was no objection from farmers for acquiring their cultivable lands.

Tehsildar of S.Kota had informed the farmers that since they had refused to receive the compensation amount it was deposited in the Revenue Account and issued orders (dated nil) handing over lands to Jindal, he said.

Prior permission

The BTVPS had sent a registered letter complaining against the S.Kota Tehsildar on April 15 and also submitted the same at the Grievance cell on April 18 to the Collector but there was no action till date, he said.

The IFTU leader said that Jindal had not taken prior permission from the panchayats for construction of compound wall and the notice the Village Secretary had issued raising objections on March 12 too was ignored, Mr. Venkateswarulu said.

Tthe Jindal felled fruit bearing trees that were raised under social forestry scheme without giving compensation to farmers, Mr. Venkateswarulu added.
