AC Gurads posts win

HYDERABAD: AC Guards XI scored a solitary goal win over Deccan Blues in the A-2 division hockey league championship at Begumpet Police Stadium here on Monday.

The match-winner came through striker Ashraf.

In the B division league match at AOC Grounds, Lucky Club defeated Friends Club 7-1.

Mohd. Irfan (3), Mohd Imran Khan (3), and M. A. Zahid (1) scored for the winner while Rejo Kurien reduced the margin for the loser.

Rajesh wins title

Sathram Rajesh won the boys under-six category title in the 25th Brilliant Trophy open chess tournament here.

Meanwhile, it was announced that Hinduja Reddy, V. Bhavana, V. Chaitanya and A. Keerthana will represent Andhra Pradesh in the coming National ‘B’ women’s championship.

The winners:

Boys: U-6: Sathram Rajesh. U-8: T. V. Amruth. U-10: P. Ajay. U-12: Vedanth Agarwal. U-14: Nikhil Reddy.

Girls: U-8: Srinidhi. U-10: A. Kavya. U-12: M. Sai Snigdha. U-14: K. Sri Vaishnavi.

Inter-district aquatics

The 25th sub-junior and 32nd junior inter-district aquatic championship and selection trials for boys and girls will be held at GHMC Swimming Pool (Secunderabad) from May 25 to 26.

The State team to take part in the Nationals to be held in Amritsar from August 31 to September 4 will be picked based on the performances here.

Yash in final

Yash Puri defeated P. Siddarth 10-6 in the boys’ under-12 semifinal of the Ganesh Raman Tennis Academy State open junior tournament here.

He will face Jitesh Swamy in the final. Jitesh beat Dheeraj 10-3. The girls final will be played between M.S. Dyuti and Rashmitha Reddy.

U-12 semifinals: Boys: M. Sri Jitesh Swamy bt K.V.S.S. Dheeraj 10-3; Yash Puri bt P. Siddarth 10-6.

Girls: M.S. Dyuti bt Manasi Reddy 9-6; Rashmitha Reddy bt Neharika 10-7.
