L-G gets ex-Mayor’s shop de-sealed
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A commercial establishment sealed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in Gautam Nagar here on May 1 was de-sealed over the weekend after the reported intervention of the Lieutenant-Governor.
The property, in whose basement a retail shop was being run, belongs to the son of former Delhi Mayor Jaishree Panwar. Miffed at the property being sealed, the former Mayor apparently complained to the Chief Minister who in turn brought the issue to the Lieutenant-Governor’s notice.
MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta said though the road where the property was situated was a commercial one, commercial use of the basement was allowed only if the set-up was in existence prior to February 7, 2007.
