Two suicide cases reported

NEW DELHI: Two cases of suicide have been reported from different parts of the Capital’s trans-Yamuna area during the past 24 hours. A 28-year-old woman, Poonam Sharma, allegedly hanged herself in her house at Mansarovar Park on Monday afternoon. The incident came to light when Poonam’s husband Ashok returned home around 3 p.m. after appearing for a job interview in Connaught Place. She was rushed to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Enquiries revealed that Ashok earlier worked at a call centre in Noida but had lost his job about a month ago. In another incident reported on Sunday afternoon, a 44-year-old man, Vikas Sarkar, allegedly hanged himself in his house at New Ashok Nagar where he lived along with his wife and three children. The police suspect that a financial crisis forced Vikas to end his life.
