Cop’s wife attempts suicide

NEW DELHI: Apparently depressed over a marital discord, a 35-year-old wife of a head constable allegedly set herself afire outside Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Monday. She has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital with 98 per cent burns. According to the police, the incident took place around 5-15 p.m. when Sunita, wife of Rajender, allegedly set herself afire outside Gate No. 11 of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Some passers-by tried to rescue her and informed the police. Sunita was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where her chances of survival were said to be thin.
