Thiruvananthapuram: The State Farmers’ Debt Relief Commission has recommended a total relief of Rs.15,46,55,838 to 5,802 farmers who had taken loans from cooperative and schedule commercial banks. In a statement here on Monday, the commission said that it had recommend to the government a debt relief of Rs.14,79,57,143 to 4,343 farmers who had taken loans from cooperative banks. It had also recommended Rs.66,98,695 as interest concessions for 1,459 farmers who had taken loans from scheduled commercial banks. The commission said it had held 203 hearings from September 2007 to March 2008 and processed 8,442 applications received from various districts.
